Yu.Prokopchuk,
author of the Bill (Reg. No.4334) deems necessary to adopt the Bill to
determine responsibility for violation of the legislation in the field of
property crimes, and prevent the situation, when deposits become inaccessible
for their owners.
The Bill supplements the Criminal Code with a new clause, pursuant to which "deliberate violation of conditions and terms of a deposit agreement which resulted in the non-payment of a deposit and interest payable at the first request of a depositor committed by a bank official is punished by a penalty in the amount of 800-1000 non-taxable citizens´ income or imprisonment for the period of five years or imprisonment for a similar period and deprivation of the right to hold certain offices or engage in a certain activity for the period of three years".
The Committee members believe that adoption of the Bill "will enhance the mechanism of criminal-legal protection of rights of the participants of legal relations in the sector of banking services".
